Enrichment Selection Process Guidelines

Elementary Language Arts

The objective of the program is to give the students the opportunity to broaden their literary experiences through extensions of the reading and writing program.  Each school varies in the programs offered. Past topics have included, but are not limited to: Art and Perspectives, Debate, Reading and Writing Enrichment.

Fourth Grade Language Arts Enrichment students are identified utilizing the Trimester 2 District DRP and DAW scores, along with an educator recommendation.  Students, who meet two out of three criteria, are invited to participate in the program.  Criteria vary yearly according to school demographics.  The top 15% of the student population is selected and invited to participate.  TAG students are automatically invited to participate.

An appeal process is in place if a child’s scores/recommendation need to be reviewed and reevaluated for entry into the program. The appeal process requires supporting data
