Dear Middlebrook Parents and Friends,

On behalf of the faculty and staff, we want to welcome you to the 2011-2012 school year!   Middlebrook School provides a safe, child centered environment in which children can grow and learn together. We have a diverse school population and feel this is a strength that helps promote understanding and respect for the differences in our cultural backgrounds.

Our school mission is to educate all students academically, socially, and emotionally within a challenging and supportive atmosphere. We do this by providing effective instruction in a positive learning environment and encouraging all students to reach their full potential as learners and as citizens. By following a curriculum which is aligned to the state standards and continually monitoring the student’s progress (through assessment and planning based on data gathered from assessments), the teachers are able to plan the correct instructions for our students.

Our professional development activities support the delivery of instruction. Our Reading Consultants, Math Specialist, Resource Teachers, and Library Media Specialist provide ongoing support to our teachers by working side by side with them to use proven teaching methods. These specialists serve as intervention and instructional coaches providing model lessons, demonstrations, workshops, and direct assistance with overall planning.  Together we are striving to develop our students into independent readers who are critical thinkers, can solve problems, and express their thinking.

Another indispensible support to improve student learning is the parent community.  We are very fortunate to have a very active PTA/Father’s Club, which provides the students, staff, and parents support in many ways. Parent involvement is highly valued and encouraged. Please visit their link to find out more about all the different ways they help our children.

We look forward to another healthy and productive school year.  picture of school prinicipal
